 Job Description 
   
 
Linde is currently seeking a Safety & Health Specialist to join the team in one of the following locations: Stewartsville / Murray Hill, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia, or Lisle, Illinois.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work in partnership with SHEQ and all business functions in North America to develop and implement safety, health, product stewardship and risk management standards, guidelines, processes and best practices in accordance with OSHA, EPA RMP, ACC Responsible Care, CGA and other internal and regulatory initiatives
• Collaborates with the business to manage and conduct the safety considerations in the design phase of:
► new plants, processes and equipment using advanced risk assessment techniques (i.e. HAZOP, FMEA, Fault-Tree, Causal-Tree, Layer of Protection, and other recognized approved methodologies)
► “Life Cycle” risk assessments on new and existing products to minimize risks to employees, customers and the public
► ergonomic and manual handling risk assessments
• Performs operational safety risk assessments to evaluate risks of tasks, equipment and processes and make recommendations for the control of potential workplace hazards
• Provide expert advice, support and assistance to all RBU business units on how to assess and control safety and process risks in their operations
• Assists with the development of the Major Hazards Review Program and collaborate with the business to comply with the requirements of the program.
• Perform gas dispersion calculations using recognized and approved software.
• Assist with the development of MSDSs which satisfy the Global and North America Regulatory Standards, policies, procedures and laws
• Assist with Industrial Hygiene assessments and monitoring
• Perform safety due diligence to identify hazards and risks of new business acquisitions and divestures
• Assists with the development and compliance with the PSM/RMP program for all sites within RBU NA
• Assist with the development and implementation of safety, health, product stewardship and risk management systems and work processes such as PTW, Contractor Safety, etc
• Participate on Regional and Global Teams of Experts relating to safety, health, product stewardship and risk management
• Participate in industry associations (CGA) and committees as required
• Support and train SHEQ Field Support on specific safety and risk management processes and audit program requirements
• Provide support and expertise to location managers and SHEQ Field Support teams during regulatory inspections such as OSHA
• Conduct audits in support of the annual RBU NA audit plan
• Develop and conduct training on safety, health, product stewardship and risk management processes
• Keep abreast of safety and risk management legislation and industry guidelines (current and pending) and assist the business in identifying impacts and solutions for compliance

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS degree in Safety, Health, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent
• 5 years’ experience in a safety, health or risk management field
• Experience using advanced risk assessment techniques
• 5 years industrial gases experience preferred
• Safety or Health certification preferred
• Experience in using Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analysis tools (i.e. failure mode and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, gas dispersion and consequence modeling, Bow-Tie analysis, etc.)
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Travel up to 40%
• In-depth knowledge and expertise in advanced qualitative and quantitative analysis methodologies as well as dispersion modeling of highly hazardous products.
• In-depth knowledge of software utilized to perform advanced qualitative, quantitative and dispersion modeling of highly hazardous products, processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of safety, health, product stewardship and risk management standards, processes, systems and tools
• Ability to understand and work with regulatory and industry requirements that impact safety and risk management
• Knowledge of company products and chemicals, processes and equipment
• Able to lead small teams in process hazard analysis and risk identification on processes and equipment
• Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of management and cultural boundaries
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills
• Proven influencing skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent computer literacy (ideally including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
